  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – Long term (chronic) condition that effects the large and/or small intestines. Food particles do not pass through the gastrointestinal system correctly and causes constipation and diarrhea. The digestive system may appear to be normal but is not functioning correctly. This is one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders given by general practitioners. Unfortunately this blanket term often covers up more serious conditions that should be addressed.
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – Small and/or large intestine becomes inflamed causing pain and swelling. Often comes with diarrhea, bloating, and stomach cramps.
  • Giardiasis or Giardia – Infection of the intestines caused by a parasite. Often associated with consuming water contaminated by human or animal feces.
  • Travelers’ Diarrhea – Generic diagnosis for loose stool, upset stomach, and other minor digestive problems following a trip.
  • Bowel Blockage – Often caused by scar tissue, tumors, or narrowing of the intestines. Can cause constipation, bloating, vomiting, and a large hard belly.
  • Crohn’s Disease – Cobblestone like surfaces form on the walls of the GI tract. Can cause pain, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, poor growth, and mouth ulcers.
  • Ulcerative Colitis – Lining of the colon develops ulcers and/or tears leading to stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and unhealthy weight loss.
  • Cirrhosis – Degenerative disease of the liver often associated with high consumption of alcohol.
  • H. Pylori – Helicopbacter Pylori is a bacterial infection that causes ulcers in the stomach. Can cause pain, bloating, nausea and more.
  • Dysphagia – Difficulty swallowing.
  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) – AKA Severe Heartburn causes chest pain and inflammation of the esophagus.
  • Diverticulosis or Diverticulitis – Small pockets form along the walls of the large intestine that may trap fecal matter and lead to inflamation.
  • Appendicitis – Inflammation of the appendix that is considered a medical emergency. If left untreated it may burst and cause peritonitis.
  • Peritonitis – Serious inflammation of the lining of the abdominal cavity. Can be fatal if left untreated by antibiotics.
  • Gall Stones – May cause pain in the upper back and abdomen, nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, and indigestion. Usually treated with surgery.
