Life Lessons from 2020

Life Lessons from 2020

Good Health is everything:

Health is the real Wealth. Make taking care of your mental and physical health a priority. This includes eating a diet that is right for your body, staying physically active, and managing stress.

Stress trumps all!:

Chronic stress can wreak havoc on your body and reduces immunity despite your healthy eating and exercise efforts. Some stress management techniques I have found useful are singing, dancing, listening to my favorite tunes,  working out, yoga, reading positive content, mindfulness, tapping, talking to family and friends, chanting, and spirituality. I also love professional supplements that are adaptogens and help by reducing the stress response in the body. I could not have imagined getting through 2020 without these. My favorites have been GABA, 5-HTP, Adaptogenic herbs (there are many but available in combination), CBD. I use these personally and help my clients find the right one with the proper dosages.

Supplements are important in boosting immunity and bringing inflammation down:

My favorites are Metagenics and Designs for Health brands as they are professional brands and have a lot of research behind each product and are devoid of contaminants and additives. My favorites have been Vitamin C, Vitamin D, N-Acetyl Cysteine, Quercetin, Medicinal mushrooms, Zinc, Turmeric, Ginger.

Gut health is the focal point:

Immunity and Neurotransmitters reside in the gut so take care of your gut by avoiding excessive caffeine, alcohol, junk foods, and refined sugars, gluten, and dairy.  Include gut-healing foods like sauerkraut, fermented foods, fruits, vegetables, and supplements and herbs like Aloe Vera, Deglycerrated Licorice, L-Glutamine, Collagen to name a few.

Happiness is a state of mind:

Boost your neurotransmitters by consuming “happiness boosting” nutrients and physical activity. You don’t need things, or people, or vacations to make you happy. Happiness can be achieved daily without getting anything or going anywhere. You can learn to be happy even in dire situations.

Learn to adapt:

We are in the middle of a global pandemic. This has affected every human being on this planet. It’s our civic duty to be considerate of each other and learn to adapt the new norms for the safety of one another and be patient until this global crisis passes. Learn to enjoy and thrive with the new rules like masking up, maintaining distance, and avoiding non-essential travel. If we give hiatus to things we used to enjoy, we are not only helping ourselves but keeping our fellow citizens safe by reducing the load on health care workers and hospitals. We know we will safely resume these activities once things get back to normal.
