Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia can be benefited by balancing neurotransmitter and sulfur-containing amino acid levels in the body, particularly serotonin, dopamine, and cysteine, through targeted nutrition guided by lab testing.

Recent advances in laboratory testing can improve our ability to treat eating disorders. Using more precise tests gives us a much better picture of each client’s overall treatment requirements.

Many of our clients restrict whole categories of foods. For example, anorexics may avoid fats, proteins or carbohydrates. Women with bulimia or binge eating disorder often consume large amounts of junk food. Nutritional deficiencies can also result from the increased requirements of a medication or from the individual’s biochemistry.

In a perfect world, we’d be able to pinpoint each client’s exact nutritional deficiencies and design an individual treatment plan based on her needs. Fortunately, that ideal treatment model is now within reach thanks to functional diagnostic medical testing.
